Visiting the Nature Play Area on Campus

This week our class had the opportunity to visit the Nature Play Area on Campus. The children had a wonderful time exploring and playing in this area together. After our time in the Nature Play Area we visited a R/1 Thiele Class and shared one of the Book Week books together as our Book Week activity.

Made in the Image of God

This week our Reception students have been talking about the story of their birth and of how they were welcomed into their family and into the Church family.
Some of the Reception girls shared photos and even brought in special items that were from when they were born or from their Baptism to share with the class. It was very special to talk about when we were babies and how much our families love and care for us.

Thinking about Australia

Our class has been learning and talking a lot about our country, Australia! Take a look at the maps we drew of Australia! We have also been learning about Aboriginal culture and have been viewing some Dreaming stories. The children have been very interested in learning about how to make a didgeridoo and also making their own birds as a response to reading the Dreaming story of ‘How the birds got their colours’. We are excited about participating in more NAIDOC week activities next week! australia

Asia Performance

Today, we were lucky enough to see a performance called ‘G’day Asia’. The presenter Hugh, has traveled to many Asian countries, and brought with him lots of puppets to share with us, and teach us some information about these countries. Here are some of the things we learnt:
Dragons are used to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Panda’s eat lots and lots of Bamboo. They also sleep a lot.
The country of China has the most people living in it in the whole world!
Monkeys and Orangutans live in trees in forests. Sometimes people chop down the trees and the monkeys have no where to live.

Learning about our Nativity Parish Church

Last Thursday, both of the R/1 classes met with Father Charles  to learn more about our Church. We looked at and pointed out some of the key features and symbols in our Church and learnt the names of many of the sacred objects and places in our Church. We thank Father Charles for taking the time to talk to us and for answering the many interesting questions we had about our Church. Here are some photos of  us exploring and learning more about ‘Our Nativity Church’.
